Wherin I breifly address a selection of categories.

I am an atheist. Most people will not be bothered by this; some people may be. I am not a “New Atheist” or an “Old Atheist”, I simply do not believe that there is a God or Gods. My reasons for this belief is likely very similar to the reasons of other non-believers in these times. There is no evidence for Gods, there is no needs for Gods in order to explain our existence, therefore there is no need to believe. I have read many arguments both for and against belief, often both sides are very eloquent and certain of themselves, usually the believer fails to convince because of his or her reliance on “personal experience” or “just having faith.” Neither of those arguments hold weight for a person looking for usable evidence.

I enjoy a wide variety of music including Folk, Jazz, Rock, Punk, and a plethora of sub-genres and hybrid-genres within those groups. Each style of music has interesting aspects, and in fact, there are many similarities between them. Pete Seeger and The Dropkick Murphy’s often sing similar messages, though their styles are worlds apart. I play the drums, though not nearly often enough. I like to think that I have some small amount of talent, but fear that I would quickly be proven wrong if I was ever playing next to anyone. I used to play in a band called “Guilty Pleasures” it never really went anywhere, but it was a lot of fun for what it was. I am also learning how to play guitar, which is enjoyable in a different way to drumming.

I find science fascinating even though I have only a basic understanding of it’s various disciplines. Biology and Chemistry are definitely interesting and challenging subjects, but I think that if I were to pick a discipline to study it would be either Physics or Cosmology. Physics is fascinating in it’s power to explain, it seems to have branches in so many different fields that it’s difficult to grasp. Physics also has huge areas where it is still learning how to explain things, so to me it appears to be a powerful yet still early in it’s development science. Cosmology is fascinating just by the merit of it’s scale. ~13.7 light years of expansion in this universe, and the Earth is an insignificant pale blue dot in an immense and ever-expanding, un-caring, chaotic field of blackness.

We’re lucky to be alive, and it’s amazing that we are!
